BACHELDER, William Clay

Services for William Clay Bachelder, 61, prominent Indianapolis attorney, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Blackwell Funeral Home with burial in Calvary Cemetery.  A resident of 2027 Central he died last night in Veterans’ Administration Hospital on West 10th. Born at Greencastle, Mr. Bachelder was a graduate of DePauw University and Indiana Law School in Indianapolis.  He had practiced law here since 1915, except for a period in which he saw service during WWI.  Mr. Bachelder began practicing with his father, Muter Miller Bachelder, and his brother, Harold K. Bachelder. After the father’s death the two brothers continued the firm, taking in a third member, Eugene G. Fife.  Harold retired three years ago.  Practicing principally in the federal courts, Mr. Bachelder formerly was state judge advocate of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He was a member of Marion Masonic Lodge and the Indiana State Bar Association. Survivors are the widow, Julia Bachelder; two sons, William K. Bachelder, Chicago and Robert Bachelder, Cincinnati; two daughters, Mrs. CH Sorum, Madison, Wis and Mrs. John Torbin, Indianapolis and the brother, Harold….
